How to close applications

If you have applications that have screen sharing permissions open, Adaface will ask you to quit those apps before continuing with the session. Here's how you can typically close the applications on various operating systems:

Windows

1. Use the Close Button

Click the X at the top-right corner of the app window.

Works most of the time for normal apps.

2. Use Taskbar Right-Click

Right-click the app icon in the taskbar.

Click "Close window".

3. Use Task Manager (for stuck or hidden apps)

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Find the app in the "Processes" tab.

Click on it, then hit "End Task".

4. Alt + F4 Shortcut

Click on the app window and press Alt + F4 to close it.

macOS (Mac)

1. Use the Red Close Button

Click the red X button at the top-left corner of the app window.

Note: This may not fully quit the app—just closes the window.

2. Quit from Dock

Right-click (or two-finger click) the app in the Dock.

Select "Quit".

3. Force Quit (if app is frozen)

Press Command + Option + Esc.

Select the app and click "Force Quit".

4. Use Activity Monitor

Open Activity Monitor from Spotlight or Applications > Utilities.

Find the app, click it, then click the X in the toolbar to quit.

Linux (Ubuntu/GNOME-based)

1. Close with the Window Button

Click the X in the corner of the app window.

2. Right-Click App in Panel

Right-click the app’s icon in the taskbar/panel.

Click “Close” or “Quit”.

3. System Monitor (like Task Manager)

Open System Monitor.

Find the app under Processes, right-click, and select "Kill" or "End Process".

4. Use Terminal (advanced)

Type ps aux | grep appname to find the app.

Use kill PID (replace PID with the number shown).

Troubleshooting

If you don't see the app in your Activity Monitor/ Task Manager, this could be a faulty file installed by an app permanently on your system. We recommend using ChatGPT to troubleshoot and remove such hidden apps. You might have to restart your system for the changes to be applied.
